Ceres Police officers fatally shoot suspect in officer-involved shooting on Friday

A suspect is dead following an officer-involved shooting in Ceres. CPD reports that its officers responded to the 3400 block of Dirk Court for reports of a man confronting family members with a knife around 11:40 a.m. on May 10, 2024.

CPD says it determined that the suspect had a warrant for his arrest for assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence related to a Modesto Police Department incident. At the scene, officers saw the man run through yards of residential homes.

A Modesto Police Department K9 officer and other resources responded. A short time later, the suspect was found hiding in a vehicle on a commercial property in the 3400 block of 6th Street. Officers attempted to take the suspect into custody when an officer-involved shooting occurred.

The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene. One officer sustained a non-life-threatening injury. No one else was injured.
