The Ceres Police Department has announced an arrest in connection to a hit-and-run on Friday morning. CPD reports that officers carried out a traffic stop on a vehicle believed to be involved in a hit-and-run on Friday morning on the Pine Street overpass around 7:30 p.m. on August 23, 2024.

CPD officers arrested 73-year-old Gilbert Taveres for felony hit-and-run. The 74-year-old male victim succumbed to the injuries sustained during the collision. At this time, the victim’s name is not being released.
