The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office reports that it is currently investigating the death of a nine-month-old infant. CCSO says its deputies responded to a report of a suspicious person near Section House Road just before 5 a.m. on July 12, 2024.

At the scene, deputies encountered an adult female who appeared disoriented. Deputies followed the woman to her residence on Tanglewood Drive. Once there, deputies found a nine-month-old infant deceased inside the residence.

CCSO confirms the infant is the daughter of the woman. Foul play is suspected in this case. No other details are available at this time.
