Car break-in attempt leads to non-contact shooting in Tallahassee

The Tallahassee Police Department is currently investigating a shooting. TPD says its officers responded to a shooting at 2400 Jackson Bluff Road around 5:20 a.m. on October 22. Authorities say the victim witnessed an adult male attempting to break into his vehicle.

The victim began chasing the suspect who allegedly shot twice at the victim. TPD says the victim was not struck by gunfire. Authorities say the suspect was located along with a backpack containing gloves, a flashlight, and a firearm.

The suspect had an active warrant for his arrest, according to TPD. The suspect has been identified as 22-year-old Joseph Williams. He is charged with Attempted Homicide, Armed Auto Burglary, Possession of Burglary Tools, and Failure to Appear/Petit Theft (Warrant).
