Cape Coral Police arrest individual in connection to threats to shoot up Cape Coral High School and Mariner High School

A suspect is in police custody after allegedly threatening to shoot up two high schools tomorrow. According to the Cape Coral Police Department, reports were received around 5:42 p.m. indicating that an unknown child had used Snapchat to send threats to shoot up Cape Coral High School and Mariner High School tomorrow.

CCPD detectives initiated an investigation with School Resource Officers to gather information. Detectives say they quickly identified and located the student responsible. The student reportedly claimed that the threat was a prank. The student was arrested at 9:24 p.m. and taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center. More arrest information will be made available tomorrow.
