Camden County Prosecutor’s Office announced in a statement on December 5, 2023, that a 53-year-old Camden City man has been arrested on a first-degree murder charge. Carlos Acevedo was determined to be responsible for the death of 26-year-old Cathleen McGrath of Haddon Township in New Jersey.

Camden County Police Department was dispatched to the area of 8^th Street and Atlantic Avenue around 2:00 p.m. on November 15, 2023, to investigate a female body. At the scene, officers made contact with the individuals who found the body.

The human remains were later identified as those of Cathleen McGrath.

Carlos Acevedo has been remanded to Camden County Correctional Facility on first-degree murder and second-degree disturbing human remains charges.
