Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office investigation leads to arrest of Zachary Schwalb who was recently released from parole

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office announced it had arrested a suspect after responding to a possible home invasion in progress on December 14, 2023. According to a social media post from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a domestic disturbance and possible home invasion in progress in the 200 block of High Street in Kampsville on December 14, 2023.

A Deputy Sergeant responded to the scene and started an investigation. The Deputy was assisted by law enforcement officials from neighboring agencies. Following the investigation, 31-year-old Zachary N. Schwalb of Baylis was arrested and charged with Aggravated Battery, two counts of Domestic Battery, and Criminal Damage to Property Less than $500.

After Schwalb was arrested without incident, he was booked into the Greene County Jail where he is being held without bond. Authorities say Schwalb was recently released from Mandatory Supervised Release (Parole) from the Illinois Department of Corrections.
