The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that its deputies responded to the Vinton Welcome Center after a body was located in water around 3 p.m. on July 8, 2024. At the scene, it was determined that the body was a 4-year-old boy who was last seen with his mother, 25-year-old Aaliyah N. Jack, and his 1-year-old sibling.
A warrant was issued for Jack’s arrest charging her with failure to report a missing child. Jack was located in Mississippi by Meridian Police without the one-year-old child. Around 9 a.m. on July 9, 2024, CPSO deputies responded to I-10 eastbound near mile marker 10 after a passerby witnessed a baby in a ditch.
At the scene, deputies identified the baby as the missing one-year-old child. On July 11, 2024, detectives upgraded the charges against Jack who remains in custody in Mississippi. Jack is now charged with two counts of Failure to Report a Missing Child, Cruelty to a Juvenile, and 2nd Degree Murder.
Her bond is set at $9.1 million.
