Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office arrests 18-year-old who allegedly dragged deputy 40 feet with vehicle

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man accused of dragging a deputy approximately 40 feet before fleeing the scene. CPSO reports that deputies were investigating a car blocking the southbound lane near 6th Avenue and 3rd Street in Lake Charles around 7 p.m. on August 30.

Deputies determined that the vehicle was occupied. CPSO says deputies attempted to make contact with a subject, 18-year-old Sincere Z. Buckley, who was walking from a residence on 6th Avenue. Buckley allegedly entered the driver’s seat and locked the door.

Deputies opened the back door of the vehicle in hopes of removing Buckley. Following a brief struggle, the driver’s door opened. At this point, Buckley allegedly turned on the vehicle and drove away dragging a deputy approximately 40 feet.

Deputies set up a perimeter and began searching for Buckley. Later that evening, the Lake Charles Police Department received a call on 6th Street that Buckley may be hiding behind homes in the area. LCPD officers responded and attempted to make contact with Buckley who allegedly fled on foot.

CPSO says he was quickly apprehended. Buckley was booked into the Calcasieu Correction Center and charged with Obstructing a Public Passage, Aggravated 2nd Degree Battery, and Resisting a Police Officer.

The deputy suffered a broken arm and abrasions.
