The Butte County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a 54-year-old Oroville man in connection to a murder on April 20. According to BCSO, dispatch received a call from a resident who reported a victim had been shot in the 500 block of Lodgeview Drive in Oroville.
At the scene, BCSO deputies found a male victim in the roadway. The victim succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased. BCSO deputies and detectives investigated the homicide. Detectives say they located evidence that caused them to believe 54-year-old Joseph Perkins shot the victim.
Detectives found evidence that Perkins fled the scene in a vehicle following the shooting. The vehicle was later found abandoned in the Kelly Ridge area. An arrest warrant for one count of murder has been obtained for Perkins who has yet to be apprehended.
