Broward Sheriff’s Office arrests former Broward County teacher’s assistant for making bomb threats against multiple area schools

The Broward County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a former Broward County Public Schools employee for allegedly making false bomb threats and making written threats to kill. Police say 42-year-old Jayson Arlon Richardson was arrested last Thursday on five counts of making false bomb threats and three counts of making written threats to kill.

Detectives say that the BSO Real Time Crime Center received five bomb threats through the Fortify FL application against schools in Deerfield Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Plantation on November 18. According to detectives, they were able to identify Richardson as a suspect through investigative means. Detectives learned that the threats came from a public library computer in Delray Beach where Richardson allegedly used a computer at the time the threats were made.

On December 13, three more shooting threats were made against schools using the FortifyFL app. Detectives say the investigation determined that these threats came from the Broward County Library in Davie/Cooper City. Richardson was again identified as a possible suspect, according to authorities. Detectives say Richardson confessed to the crimes following his arrest. Richardson previously worked as a teacher’s assistant for Broward County Public Schools.
