The Bridgeport Police Department said its Regional Task Force intercepted a potential shooting suspect before the incident. On July 24, 2024, BPD’s Fusion Center officers received information of potential threats of a shooting in the area of the Trumbull Ave Housing complex.
BPD identified the suspect as Noah Diaz. Regional Task Force members witnessed Diaz getting into a stolen Toyota Highlander wearing gloves. Authorities detained the suspect without incident.
It is alleged that Diaz had a loaded Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun in his waistband and did not possess a valid pistol permit. Diaz was charged with Carrying a Pistol without a Permit, Interfering with an Officer, and Larceny of a Motor Vehicle.
