Bowling Green, Kentucky – The Bowling Green Police Department has announced an arrest in connection to the death of 16-year-old Jamarco Dye.
According to BGPD, it is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred at 110 Audley Avenue. Around 1:48 a.m., officers responded to the scene for a report of shots fired.
Police say responding officers found 16-year-old Dye deceased from multiple gunshot wounds. According to authorities, 22-year-old Tylan J. Barnett told detectives he was at the apartment because his sister had contacted him saying she believed someone was trying to break into the residence.
Barnett allegedly claimed he saw two individuals outside and thought they were the same people from earlier. Police say Barnett said he went outside with a gun, observed one person running away from the rear of the residence, and fired multiple rounds at a second individual who was also running away from the apartment building.
Police say Barnett admitted to discarding the firearm in the brush line next to the apartment. Barnett was booked into the Warren County Regional Jail on charges of Murder and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
