Boston police arrest two after detail officer is pepper sprayed breaking up fight involving two females

The Boston Police Department says two suspects have been arrested after a detail officer was pepper sprayed. A news release explains that an officer who was working a paid detail observed a fight in the area of Washington Street and Talbot Avenue around 11:18 AM on December 1, 2023. The detail officer noticed two females fighting in the middle of the roadway.

The officer separated the two participants, but another fight started between another group. At some point, a female suspect pepper sprayed the female officer in the face. Authorities say the suspect attempted to get into a motor vehicle and flee the area. Other officers responded to the scene and stopped the motor vehicle.

Officers quickly handcuffed the suspect as she began to resist. Another party inside the vehicle attempted to interfere with the arrest, according to authorities. Police say the officers gave the second suspect multiple commands to stop interfering or she’d be arrested. The second suspect allegedly began to assault multiple officers before a struggle ensued.

Officers were eventually able to handcuff the second suspect as well. Authorities say 18-year-old Skyla Malave and 40-year-old Priscilla Malave, of Dorchester, were placed under arrest. Skyla Malave is charged with assault and battery on a police officer, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and resisting arrest.
