Bloomsburg Police arrest man who barricaded inside following Taser deployments

The Bloomsburg Police Department has arrested a man following a barricaded subject situation. BPD reports that officers were dispatched to the 400 block of West 1st Street for a disorderly male on June 14, 2024.

BPD says an arrest warrant was issued for the man who was identified as Joseph Slusser. BPD alleges that Slusser made threats against another individual earlier in the day. At the residence, Slusser allegedly retreated inside and refused to open the door.

Officers tried to negotiate with Slusser and urged him to open the door and surrender. BPD says he did not obey these commands. Officers tried to enter the residence through a window, but Slusser allegedly closed it on them.

Officers tried to gain physical control over Slusser but were unable to do so. Officers discharged their Tasers with no effects. Eventually, officers made access into the residence causing Slusser to retreat into a bathroom.

A Taser was deployed again to no effects. Officers gained physical control over Slusser and took him into custody. Slusser was transported to an area hospital for treatment. He was arrested on charges of Harassment, Disorderly Conduct, and Resisting Arrest.
