The Alexandria Police Department has charged a homicide suspect with first-degree murder. According to a press release from the Alexandria Police Department in Virginia, 35-year-old Bisrat Shaga has been charged with first-degree murder in the November 12 stabbing death of Emmanuel Negatu.

Officers with the Alexandria Police Department responded to a call regarding a stabbing in the 2700 block of Dewitt Avenue around 4:27 PM on November 12, 2023. Upon arrival, officers located a 38-year-old man who had died inside the location. The victim was later identified as 38-year-old Emmanuel Negatu of Centreville, Virginia.
