Birmingham Police investigating shootout with three shot at the Carson Crest Apartments

The Birmingham Police Department is investigating a triple shooting at an apartment complex at 1401 Carson Road. BPD officers responded to the Carson Crest Apartments around 11 a.m. on June 8, 2024.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald said in a video statement that BPD officers entered the complex and learned that a shootout had taken place. Officers discovered that an adult female was at a nearby church suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Two adult males arrived at an area hospital via private vehicle. One of the adult males was pronounced deceased by hospital staff. Officer Fitzgerald said the second male victim suffered life-threatening injuries.

Based on the preliminary investigation, BPD believes an argument occurred between the two males. During the argument, one of the males pulled out a firearm and shots were exchanged between the two.

It is believed the adult female victim was caught in the crossfire. No other details are available at this time.
