The Birmingham Police Department is currently investigating a homicide in the 1700 block of Maple Avenue. Around 11:10 p.m., West Precinct officers responded to a call of a tow truck in the driveway of a vacant home. At the scene, responding officers found the tow truck in the driveway of the vacant home with the engine running.
As officers got closer to the vehicle, they observed a victim on the ground suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire & Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. No other details are available at this time.
