Birmingham, Alabama – The Birmingham Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting in the 200 block of 3rd Avenue South. According to a BPD statement, South Precinct officers responded to the scene for a Shot Spotter alert around 7:35 p.m.

BPD says responding officers found an adult male lying unresponsive in the yard of a residence. The victim was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. BPD says the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Authorities believe the victim and a group of individuals were at a house in the 200 block of 3rd Avenue South. The victim may have been involved in an argument with a second adult male suspect. The suspect shot the victim and fled the scene, according to BPD.
