The Birmingham Police Department is on the scene of a homicide at the UPS facility at 4601 Inglenook Lane. Around 6:05 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to a report of a person shot at the aforementioned location. At the scene, responding officers found an adult male lying on the ground suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire & Rescue responded to the scene where they pronounced the victim deceased. BPD says the preliminary investigation indicates the victim, who is an employee at the facility, ended his shift and was walking outside to his vehicle.
The victim was confronted by an unknown suspect who fired shots hitting the victim. Following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene. BPD believes the victim was targeted.
