The Birmingham Police Department is on the scene of a homicide on Tuesday evening. Officer Truman Fitzgerald said in a video statement that BPD officers responded to a residence in the 4400 block of 44th Avenue North just before 2 p.m. for a person down.
At the scene, responding officers found an adult female lying unresponsive on the front porch of a residence. Birmingham Fire & Rescue responded to the scene where they pronounced the victim deceased.
Based on the preliminary investigation, BPD officers saw signs of trauma on the victim. BPD is handling the case as a homicide investigation. No other details are available at this time and no one is in custody. BPD does not believe this was a random act.
