According to a Birmingham Police Department social media post, officers responded to the 1000 block of 2nd Court West around 10:50 PM for a Shot Spotter alert. Upon arrival, officers witnessed that an occupied vehicle had collided with an unoccupied, parked vehicle. Upon further examination, officers found that the driver of one of the vehicles was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire & Rescue personnel arrived at the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. A preliminary investigation leads police to believe the victim was in his vehicle when an unknown suspect fired shots at him. At this time, there is no one in custody.
