Birmingham Police Department detectives are on the scene of a homicide in the 4200 block of 39th Avenue North. Around 12:15 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to a call of a person shot. At the scene, officers located a juvenile male lying unresponsive inside of a residence with an apparent gunshot wound.

Once Birmingham Fire & Rescue reached the scene, the victim was pronounced deceased. According to BPD, the preliminary investigation suggests the mother of the victim called 911 to report that her son had been shot. Details are limited at this time.
