The Birmingham Police Department is investigating what it calls a targeted shooting on Tuesday night. Officer Truman Fitzgerald said in a statement that North Precinct officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 700 block of 8th Terrace West around 9 p.m.

At the scene, officers were led to the parking lot of an apartment complex. An adult male was found inside a vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Officer Fitzgerald said it is believed the victim was in his vehicle when he was shot by an unknown suspect or unknown suspects in a targeted shooting.
