The Birmingham Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred on June 7, 2024. BPD reports that its detectives obtained an arrest warrant in connection to the murder of Demarco Thomas.

The victim was fatally shot in the 400 block of 9th Street West. BPD Homicide detectives say they identified a suspect during the investigation. The suspect has been identified as 26-year-old Birmingham resident O’Nandas Carmece Beard.

On June 18, 2024, BPD’s Crime Reduction Team apprehended Beard at a residence in West Birmingham. Detectives also say they recovered a Glock Switch at the residence. Beard has been booked into the Jefferson County Jail with no bond.
