The Birmingham Police Department has announced an arrest in connection to the Willie Carr homicide. According to BPD, detectives have obtained a warrant for an arrest in the murder of Willie Carr. The victim was fatally shot on March 13, 2024 in the 1100 block of Cotton Avenue Southwest.
BPD has identified the suspect as 30-year-old James Burdette. Following the shooting, Burdette allegedly stole a food truck and drove to a gas station in Chilton County where he was apprehended by Chilton County deputies. West Precinct officers transported Burdette to the Birmingham City Jail where he was placed on a 48-hour felony extension.
Detectives presented case information to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office and obtained a warrant for Murder. At this time, Burdette is being held with no bond.
