The Birmingham Police Department reported in a social media post that detectives had obtained an arrest warrant for a suspect in the slaying of Kevin Davis. On October 26, 2023, Davis was fatally shot in the 300 block of Lexington Street. Authorities say the suspect has been identified as 22-year-old Braxton Lewis of Birmingham, Alabama.

BPD explains that Davis is Braxton Lewis’s uncle. On November 29, 2023, detectives with the Birmingham Police Department presented case information to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. Following an assessment, detectives obtained a warrant for murder.

On December 7, 2023, the Police Department’s Crime Reduction Team, Narcotics Unit, and the FBI arrested Lewis in the 3700 block of 9th Avenue Wylam. Lewis is being held at the Jefferson County Jail with no bond.
