Belleville, Illinois – The Belleville Police Department said in a social media statement that it is investigating the shooting that claimed the life of a 16-year-old.

According to police, officers responded to the 100 block of North 81st Street for multiple shots fired around 5:31 p.m. on February 3, 2025.

At the scene, officers found a 16-year-old male subject on the ground in front of a residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

BPD says the victim was transported to Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Detectives and the Crime Scene Unit have responded to the scene.
