The Belleville Police Department has arrested a man for Criminal Sexual Assault, Child Pornography, Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse, and Grooming. BPD reports that officers were contacted by the mother of a juvenile victim on September 10, 2024.

The victim’s mother told authorities that her 15-year-old son had been spending time at a residence in the 600 block of North 39th Street. The juvenile victim had spent time there before and the homeowner was referred to as his “godfather”.

When the mother arrived to pick up her son, she and another family member allegedly saw the victim and the “Godfather” engaged in a lewd act. The juvenile was taken to an area hospital for medical treatment.

BPD officers responded to the residence of the “Godfather” and located the suspect. Authorities say 74-year-old Michael G. Munie was arrested without incident and taken to the Belleville Police Department.
