Baton Rouge Police investigating homicide of 22-year-old Erik Dorsey

The Baton Rouge Police Department is currently investigating a homicide at 15951 West I-10. Homicide Detectives are investigating the shooting that occurred in the early hours of Sunday.

BRPD reports that its detectives learned that an SUV was traveling westbound when gunshots were fired from a fleeing vehicle. The SUV crashed into a truck traveling in the same direction and flipped on its side.

Both vehicles hit the retaining wall. The driver of the flipped SUV, 22-year-old Erik Dorsey, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Authorities say Dorsey died as a result of gunshot wounds to the body.

Multiple occupants from both victims were transported to an area hospital. Dorsey is the only victim to suffer gunshot wounds. No other details are available at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call the Violent Crimes Unit at 225-389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at 225-344-7867.
