Baton Rouge Police Department investigating fatal crash on North 22nd Street that killed 14-year-old victim

The Baton Rouge Police is investigating a fatal crash on North 22nd Street. Homicide detectives with the Baton Rouge Police Department are investigating a traffic crash that occurred this morning around 9:43 AM in the 800 block of North 22nd Street.

Authorities say a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado pickup was traveling northbound on North 22nd Street when it crashed into a Nissan Versa sedan that was trying to make a left turn onto Fuqua Avenue from southbound North 22nd Street.

The sedan had three occupants at the time. Two of the occupants were taken to the hospital for injuries. The 3rd occupant, identified as a 14-year-old, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police say two occupants in the pick-up truck fled the scene on foot before police could arrive.

Detectives determined that the 2012 pick-up truck had been reported stolen through Zachary Police. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Violent Crimes Unit at 225-389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at 225-344-7867.
