Baton Rouge Police arrest two men in mass shooting on Greenwell Springs Road

The Baton Rouge Police Department has announced the arrests of two men in connection to a fatal shooting on Greenwell Springs Road. BRPD Homicide Detectives say they are investigating a shooting that killed one and injured five others.

Authorities say the shooting occurred in a parking lot at 9702 Greenwell Springs Road around 3:45 a.m. on October 20, 2024. Police say 35-year-old Dexter Cormier was transported to an area hospital with a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased.

Five other gunshot victims were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot injuries. BRPD says two individuals were detained at the scene. 24-year-old Michael Robinson was arrested.

Robinson was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for 1st Degree Murder, five counts of Attempt 1st Degree Murder, Possession of a Firearm – Convicted Felon, and Illegal Use of a Weapon.

30-year-old Tyrelle Hamilton was booked into the Easton Baton Rouge Parish Prison for Obstruction of Justice.
