The Baton Rouge Police Department has arrested a suspect who allegedly kidnapped a female victim from a local domestic violence center. BRPD reports that detectives learned about the incident around 11 a.m. on July 4, 2024.

During the investigation, detectives say they had very little to no leads on the name or location of the suspect. On July 9, BRPD received a call from the victim saying she had been held against her will at a residence on Hollywood Street.

Officers responded to the location where they contacted the victim and took her to safety. Detectives tracked down the suspect and took him into custody without incident. 45-year-old Robert Cole is charged with Simple Kidnapping, False Imprisonment, 1st Degree Rape, Domestic Abuse Battery, and Simple Criminal Damage to Property.
