The Baton Rouge Police Department has arrested an 18-year-old man for attempted 1st degree murder. According to BRPD, Homicide Detectives are investigating a shooting that happened around 11:30 p.m. on March 23, 2024 near the intersection of North 43rd Street and Odell Street. Uniformed officers were carrying out a suspicious incident investigation when three individuals fled from officers in a vehicle.
The vehicle stopped at North 43rd Street and Odell Street where the occupants bailed and fled on shoot. 29-year-old Eric Brown was arrested immediately. Another suspect reportedly fired a gunshot towards officers. The bullet entered a home and hit a nearby resident in the lower extremity.
That suspect, 18-year-old Mikel Moore, was later apprehended by a K9 officer. The third suspect is still at large. Moore was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on 8 counts of Attempt 1st Degree Murder and Resisting an Officer. Eric Brown was issued a misdemeanor summons and released. The shooting victim was treated at an area hospital for a non-life-threatening injury.
