Barricaded suspect situation ends in suicide in Las Vegas

A barricaded suspect situation has ended with the suicide of the suspect, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. LVMPD reports that dispatch received a report of a stolen vehicle in the 10500 block of West Lone Mountain Road around 7:16 a.m. on June 29, 2024.

An individual stopped at a gas station. When he exited the gas station, he learned that his vehicle was missing. Officers determined that a man had entered the victim’s vehicle before fleeing the area.

The vehicle was tracked to the 10800 block of Lost Ark Avenue. In that area, officers were flagged down by a man who said his roommate had arrived and threatened him with a firearm.

Officers say they determined that the roommate was the stolen vehicle suspect. Additional officers helped set up a perimeter around the residence and ordered anyone inside to exit the home.

All occupants got out of the residence unharmed but said that the male suspect was still inside with a gun. Crisis Negotiators and SWAT responded. At one point, officers heard a shot coming from inside the home.

A drone was used to survey the residence and find the male suspect inside a bedroom closet unresponsive. SWAT officers entered the residence and found the man deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. No other details are available at this time.
