The Baltimore Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that happened around 8:20 p.m. today. According to a media release from BPD, Northwest District officers responded to the 5200 block of Fairlawn Avenue around 8:20 p.m. on January 24, 2024 for a reported shooting inside a mechanic’s garage.

At the scene, officers found an unidentified male victim with a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. BPD said the preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was shot inside the office of the building. A person of interest was taken into custody.
