The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office has announced an arrest in connection to the murder of Gary P. Normand. APSO reports that deputies responded to a report of a deceased individual at a residence on LA Highway 1192 in Marksville, Louisiana on July 22, 2024.

The deceased was later identified as Gary P. Normand. Authorities say the preliminary investigation suggested that he died under suspicious circumstances. APSO says its investigation led to the identification of the suspect.

On July 30, 2024, APSO arrested 19-year-old Jacob E. Michot in connection to the death. Michot was arrested on charges of Principal to 2nd Degree Murder and Possession of Stolen Things.

He is being held on a bond of $1.1 million. The investigation is active and ongoing.
