Authorities say 24-year-old man found deceased in drainage canal died of self-inflicted injuries

A deceased individual was found in a drainage canal in Tracy. Authorities say the individual died as a result of self-inflicted injuries. According to a media release from the Tracy Police Department, the TPD Communication Center received a report of a body in a drainage canal in the 100 block of West Central Avenue around 6:06 a.m. on April 7, 2024.

At the scene, responding officers found an unresponsive adult suffering from traumatic injuries. South San Joaquin County Fire Authority and American Medical Response reached the scene before the victim was pronounced deceased. TPD General Investigations Unit detectives responded to investigate.

Detectives identified the victim as a 24-year-old man from Tracy. It was determined that the man died as a result of self-inflicted injuries, according to detectives and investigators from the San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s Office.
