The Lynchburg Police Department reported on social media that it is investigating a possible attack at the University of Lynchburg on Friday evening.
LPD says its officers responded to a report of a possible malicious wounding at the University around 8:20 p.m. on Friday. Police say initial reports indicated that a knife may have been involved.
Authorities say the victim had a small scratch on her forehead. The victim did not see a knife although she believed one may have been used after feeling blood from the scratch, according to LPD.
Lynchburg Police say surveillance footage from a stairwell area showed the victim exiting while holding her forehead, but she also reported that the suspect had punched her in the head multiple times.
Police say the suspect is described as a man wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, and red shoes. The victim declined transport to the hospital for further treatment.
Police say the incident does not meet the criteria for a malicious wounding.
