The Austin Police Department is investigating after a 32-year-old man was fatally shot on Friday. APD reports that 32-year-old Eliud Cueva Jr. was fatally shot early Friday. Around 2:18 a.m. on May 17, 2024, APD officers responded to calls of a shooting at 8110 Blue Goose Road.
The victim vehicle also called and informed authorities they had driven to a nearby Waffle House at 8800 East US 290 Highway. Officers and EMS responded to the Waffle House and discovered the back passenger of the vehicle suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
The victim, Cueva, was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 5:36 p.m. on May 18, 2024. Homicide Detectives, Aggravated Assault Detectives, and Crime Scene Specialists responded to the scene to investigate.
APD believes Cueva was in the back of a friend’s vehicle when it pulled into 8110 Blue Goose Road. The suspect shot into the vehicle hitting Cueva. Following the shooting, the victim vehicle left the complex and drove to the Waffle House. The murder is Austin’s 22nd homicide of the year.
