According to a social media post from the Austin Police Department, a suspect has been arrested in the slaying of Baron Godwin. On November 18, 2023 around 9:17 PM, APD officers responded to an urgent welfare check call in the 3500 block of Rogge Lane. Police say the call involved a man who was on the ground and not breathing. CPR was in progress. Upon arrival, officers located Baron Godwin unresponsive.

A short time later, Godwin was pronounced deceased at the scene. Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists were dispatched to the scene to investigate. Investigators suspect that Godwin was in his wheelchair when he was attacked by 62-year-old Ronnie Green. Green has been arrested and charged with injury to the elderly which is a 3rd degree felony.

He has a $50,000 bond. The Austin Police Department says the case is being investigated as the city’s 62nd homicide of 2023.
