The Austin Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting at the Patten West Apartments. APD Public Information Officer Jeremy Fisher provided the following information during a media briefing.

Around 9:40 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2024, APD officers were dispatched to The Patten West Apartments at 2207 Wickersham Lane in response to a report of shots fired. At the scene, responding officers located a male who appeared to have been suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Medical aid was provided, but the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. A person of interest was detained at the scene. Investigators are interviewing the person of interest. APD PIO Jeremy Fisher said that investigators believe there was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.

The case is being worked as Austin’s 14th homicide of 2024.
