The Austin Police Department has arrested a 47-year-old man in the slaying of Joe Santos Gonzales. According to an APD social media post, APD officers responded to reports of a shooting at the Fort Branch Apartments at 5800 Techni Center Drive around 11:17 p.m. on March 19, 2024. At the scene, authorities found a victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
The victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim has since been identified as Joe Santos Gonzales. Detectives believe the victim and suspect were roommates and had gotten into an argument before the shooting. The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force arrested 47-year-old Isidro Sanchez Navarrette who is charged with First-Degree Murder.
