Latest Update: Arlington Police Department officers responded to a shooting near the skating rink inside the Parks Mall around 7:30 p.m. on the evening of December 28, 2023. Upon arrival, first responders located an adult male and an adult female with apparent gunshot wounds. The victims were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Based on APD’s preliminary investigation, it believes two groups of people got into a physical fight on an escalator. At some point, shots were fired. Police believe the suspected shooter left the mall after the shooting. APD is working to identify and locate the suspect. No arrests have been made. The mall is expected to reopen for normal business hours on Friday.
Update: APD said in an update at 9:20 p.m. that the incident probably occurred in the corridor near the ice skating rink. Two people were taken to a local hospital. At this time, their conditions are not known. Officers have completed a sweep of the mall and are conducting secondary sweeps.
