The Arlington County Police Department’s Special Victims Unit announced the arrest of a suspect in a 2023 rape in the Radnor/Ft. Myer Heights neighborhood. Authorities say 20-year-old Hamza Omar of Columbus, Ohio was arrested and charged with Rape, Abduction with Intent to Defile, Robbery, Burglary with Intent to Commit Rape, and Wearing a Mask in Public.

Omar is currently being held in the Arlington County Detention Facility without bond. Detectives say they collected reviewed evidence before warrants were obtained for Omar’s arrest in August.

ACPD says Omar was located in Ohio and taken into custody by the Columbus Division of Police. Around 12:19 a.m. on October 29, 2023, police responded to the 1500 block of Clarendon Boulevard for a reported rape.

Authorities say an unknown male gained entry to the victim’s residence, entered her bedroom, and threatened her. Then, the suspect raped the victim before fleeing the residence on foot.
