Arkansas State Police looking for Memphis man in death of highway worker

The Arkansas State Police says it is assisting the United States Marshals Services in the search for 23-year-old Calvion Dayshun Thomas of Memphis, Tennessee. Authorities say Thomas is wanted in connection to the death of 36-year-old Justin Delgado of Lola, Texas.

Around 10 p.m. on September 18, 2024, Delgado was working in the Interstate 55 construction zone when he was fatally struck and killed during a pursuit with the West Memphis Police Department, according to police.

Authorities say the pursuit began after WMPD stopped a maroon Corvette on East Broadway for a traffic violation. The suspect reportedly fled at a high rate of speed and entered I-55 South heading into a construction zone near the three-mile marker.

Police say the suspect hit Delgado and another worker contracted by the Arkansas Department of Transportation. The second worker remains in serious condition. Police say Thomas faces charges of First-Degree Murder, First-Degree Battery, Theft by Receiving, and Fleeing.

Anyone with information is asked to call 1-877-WANTED-2 or 1-877-926-8332.
