Little Rock, Arkansas – The Arkansas State Police announced that its Criminal Investigation Division is investigating a high-speed pursuit and shooting that occurred around 4:30 a.m. on December 27, 2024 in Little Rock.
According to police, the incident started when Troopers found a Dodge Ram 1500 that previously fled from Little Rock Police officers. ASP says the suspect vehicle fled east on Baseline Road at speeds exceeding 100 MPH.
Authorities say the pursuit ended when the vehicle crashed at the intersection of Baseline Road and Arch Street Pike. ASP says troopers approached the vehicle and heard a single gunshot from inside the truck cab.
According to ASP, the driver, a 28-year-old Heber Springs man, was found with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. A 44-year-old female passenger suffered injuries in the crash.
Both individuals were transported to UAMS for medical treatment. The driver is reportedly in critical condition. The passenger remains hospitalized. Investigators say they found a 9mm handgun, an AR-15 rifle, and illegal narcotics.
