Arkansas State Police investigating fatal officer-involved shooting of Hot Springs man

The Arkansas State Police’s Criminal Investigation Division is investigating following a fatal officer-involved shooting that left a 35-year-old Hot Springs man dead. According to a news release from the Arkansas State Police, the incident occurred around 2 p.m. on January 1, 2024. A Hot Springs man was fatally shot after leading police on a high-speed pursuit from Benton to Little Rock.

A State Trooper employed a tactical vehicle intervention on Interstate 30 near the University Avenue exit to end the pursuit. The suspect reportedly fired at police officers who returned fire. The suspect was hit and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

ASP said the suspect was wanted by the United States Marshals Service and was allegedly driving a vehicle with fictitious plates. No officers were injured during the incident.
