Appleton Police investigating disturbance at Erb Park

The Appleton Police Department is investigating a disturbance at Erb Park. APD reports that officers responded to a report of shots fired near the park pavilion around 8:14 p.m. on Tuesday night.

At the scene, officers secured a perimeter and determined that no injuries or damage occurred. APD says officers identified a suspect in the incident. Around 8:23 p.m., Tyrese Tupac Shakir Simmons was taken into custody.

APD officers recovered a handgun. Simmons was transported to the Outagamie County Jail. He is facing two counts of Felony Bail Jumping, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Disorderly Conduct, Second-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Endangering Safety by Use of a Dangerous Weapon, Resisting/Obstructing, and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.

APD believes all involved individuals have been identified and located.
