Apple Valley man arrested after allegedly assaulting female victim for multiple hours

An Apple Valley man is behind bars for allegedly assaulting a female victim at a residence for multiple hours. The Apple Valley Police Department reports that its officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance on August 3, 2024.

The victim had been assaulted for hours at a residence in Alley Valley before going to a relative’s residence in Victorville. Emergency medical personnel responded to the Victorville residence before the victim was transported to an area hospital.

A deputy investigated the incident and learned that the assault began on Friday and continued into the next morning. Once the suspect went to sleep, the victim reportedly escaped the residence and sought help.

The suspect, 53-year-old Joshua Edward Schilling, was arrested on August 6, 2024 and booked into the High Desert Detention Center. Schilling is charged with Torture, Corporal Injury to Spouse/Cohabitant, Dissuading a Witness, Criminal Threats, Forcible Rape, and Resist, Obstruct, Delay of Peace Officer.
